An estranged lover, David Sulaimon, has bathed his 22-year-old fiancée Chika Egbo with acid for requesting that he take her to see her would be mother in-law.
Chika who is currently at the Burns Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja is said to be having some irreconcilable differences with her fiancé following lies he had told her about his parents before the November 5 acid bathe that left the Enugu State College of Education student wreathing in pain.
According to the father of the victim, Mr. Matthew Egbo, the suspect had on June 25, carried out the introduction rites of her daughter with other seven of his supposed family members in attendance in their hometown, Enugu.
Sulaimon’s parents were absent following his claim that the mum was abroad and the father ill.
Chika reportedly got pregnant and after the birth of her baby visited her fiancé in Lagos where she discovered that he had been lying about his parents as both were hale and hearty.
In November, Sulaimon began to request that he needed to see his baby, but Matthew told him to bring his parents to come and iron things out. But on November 5, Chika left for Lagos without informing her parents after Sulaimon had told her his mum wanted to see her.
Mr. Matthew said; “My phone just rang that day and I was told to come to Lagos because a young man had poured acid on my daughter.”
According to what Chika could mumble from her hospital bed, Sulaimon had emptied the acid on her on their way to see his mum.
Sulaimon was arrested after Chika raised an alarm and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba as confirmed by Divisional Police Officer of Ikotun, Mr. Augustin Akika.
