I smell Christmas!
It’s another month of that special season, when Christians all over the world commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Well, that’s the primary reason.
Christmas is also a time when the prize of Chickens suddenly skyrockets (please don’t ask me why).
It’s in this season that so many couples become Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, for the children’s clothes must be bought; the helpless foul must be slaughtered. Yes I understand.
I have lived to see many babes lose their boyfriends temporary in ember December, at least until the fever is over - January is heralded. I have heard bizarre; I have seen worse!

Actress Angela Okorie robbed at gunpoint
Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie was Thursday, November 29, robbed by unknown gunmen who hijacked her car on her way to a movie location making away with her cash and other valuables. Her car was also damaged.
Angela was said to have been visibly shaken after the encounter and left the venue thanking God that her life was spared.
A close aide of the actress said the actress is still in a state of shock, lamenting the loss of enormous contacts and an undisclosed sum of money.
RMD enmeshed in 50million naira theft mess
Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe Damijo and the acting General Manager of the state’s Tourism Board, Philo Nkem Ajufo, have allegedly embezzled N50 million from the ministry’s scoffers.
Several sources in Delta State, including two employees of the Culture Ministry, told our reporter that a former commissioner in the Ministry had requested N50 million to organize the “Delta State Expo 2007.” However, the state government was unable to release the funds that particular year to sponsor the yearly event.
By some bizarre twist, the funds were finally released to the ministry’s tourism account in May, 2012. “As soon as the money arrived, the commissioner said that the ministry could no longer hold the event since six years had elapsed,” said a source within the ministry. “The Honorable Commissioners also argued that Deltans would have forgotten about the event – and therefore the money should not be used for the purpose it was released.”
However, our reporter obtained documents from the Delta State Ministry of Finance stipulating that the N50 million must be spent on the event for which the Culture Ministry applied for it. The warrant was signed by one P.O. Evuojapha on behalf of the Commissioner of Finance. The warrant indicated that N35 million of the funds was to go to the Tourism Board.
Our sources disclosed that Mr. Damijo, a former popular Nollywood actor turned politician, connived to issue a check of N35 million in the name of Ms. Ajufo who reportedly deposited the sum into her First Bank private account number 3006131619. “Mrs. Ajufo and RMD then shared the money,” one of our sources asserted.
Another government source told SaharaReporters, “It is very obvious that the manner the cheque was issued in the name of the board GM instead of in the name of the board was fraudulent. It portrays an element of fraud.”
Several of our sources depicted Ms. Ajufo as somebody versed in the art of warming up to top politicians in the state and getting her way.
Two sources said Ms. Ajufo used her share of the looted funds to start off a twin duplex building located at No.6 Dunkwu Crescent in Asaba, the state capital. The building is behind Junior Staff quarters and near a Redeemed Christian Church. One source said Ms. Ajufo had started the project in June, 2012.
A source close to Ms. Ajufo told SaharaReporters that the head of the tourism board had denied receiving any of the embezzled funds. “She accused Mr. Mofe Damijo of carting away the whole sum of N50 million even when her account was used to commit the fraud,” said the source.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ajufo’s staff have reportedly lost all patience with her manner of running the board. “The acting GM is very, very corrupt,” said a staffer. “As we talk, apart from her official car, the Tourism Board cannot boast of a single functional car. All the board’s cars are grounded. And in this era of technology, there is no single working computer apart from one in her office – which she doesn’t use. Her office is entitled to N1 million subventions every month, but as soon as the money comes the commissioner and the GM share most of it. The left over is never properly used by the GM.”
A source who was on the GM’s entourage to the Akwaba Festival in Lagos last October told SaharaReporters that Ms. Ajufo embezzled some funds meant to secure an exhibition stand at the festival. “The GM collected N500, 000 from the government to procure an exhibition stand for Delta State at the Akwaba Festival held in Lagos in October, 2012. Instead, she pocked the sum of N300, 000 and went for an ordinary table stand which cost her N200, 000 only. She is the most corrupt of all the GMs we have ever worked with in that board. She runs fraudulent deals with the commissioner and they have both amassed wealth for themselves to the detriment of the people of Delta State.”
When a reporter sent a text to Ms. Ajufo, the embattled GM wrote back, “Please, speak with the Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism. Thank you.”
Contacted by phone, Mr. Damijo denied all the allegations, insisting that no such money was released to his ministry at any time. “That matter is a dead matter,” he said. “There was no N50 million released to my ministry.” I run the Ministry with people, the Permanent Secretary and other directors.”

Shot Okada Rider – Doctor on Emergency hired me
The 27-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, Adigun Atilola, who was shot by a policeman on November 6 in Ilupeju, Lagos State, for allegedly breaking the state traffic law, said on Monday that his passenger was a medical doctor who was on an emergency when the incident happened.
Atilola has been moved from the Surgical Emergency of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where he was operated upon on the day of the incident to the Surgical Ward B of the same hospital.
Atilola, who is still on admission, said the doctor, who hired him, appealed to him to take him to the home of a patient in Ilupeju for an emergency.
He said, “On that fateful day, I was in Mushin area when this doctor who was putting on a ward coat and holding a stethoscope approached me and asked me to take him to Ilupeju.
“I understand the provision of the state traffic law well. So, I refused but he kept on begging me to help save the life of the sick person he was going to attend to.”
He said the doctor promised to explain the situation to any law enforcement officer who stops him on the road.
He said, “On getting to Teju Junction on Ilupeju bypass, the traffic light stopped me and as soon as soon as I switched on the motorcycle igntion, a policeman who came from where he was hiding held my motorcycle at the back.
“I immediately turned off the ignition but unfortunately another one who also emerged from hiding came close to me and before I knew it I was shot at a close range.”
Atilola, who was moved to the Surgical Ward B 12 days ago, said though he was getting good medical attention at the hospital, he still could not move his legs.
He added that despite having carried out a series of X-rays on various parts of his body, he was scheduled to have another round of X-ray examination on his legs on Monday.
Our correspondent who visited him at the hospital observed that he was still receiving drip while gloves were worn on his two legs.
He said, “My legs have since been affected as they are both immovable and they appear to be lifeless. I don’t have a feeling that I have legs anymore.
“I have not passed out excreta since November 6. I only fart. They passed pipe to my male organ and that is how I pass urine out of my system.
“Since I have been in this world, I never experienced this kind of thing before. But I thank God I’m alive today.”
He said his 24-year-old younger brother, Sikiru, also an okada rider, who was arrested at the scene of the incident, had since been released by the police and had relocated to Iseyin in Oyo State.
“Though I am receiving free treatment here, the police who caused me this problem have abandoned me. They are not even forthcoming. I strongly wish that the trigger- happy policeman is brought to book,” he said.

2 aides of Gov. Suntai returns from German hospital
Two aides of Governor Danbaba Suntai, Tino Dangana and Joel Dan, Chief Security Officer (CSO)and Chief Detail (CD), who were flown to Germany for medical treatment arrived the NnamdiAzikiwe International Airport in Abuja Thursday November 29, at about 4.30pm.
They were discharged from the hospital after they were confirmed fit and free to go home by the specialists at the German hospital.
According to the Taraba State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, the aides were on board an Arik airline from Abuja enroute Yola to Jalingo.
It would be recalled that Gov. Suntai and his three aides, DasatIliya, Aide De Camp (ADC), CSO and CD, crashed in his private jet in Yola, the Adamawa State Capital on Thursday, 25th October 2012.
However, the condition of the third aide, Iliya, who was confirmed to be critically wounded from the accident, could not be ascertained at the time of this publication.
Earlier, Bello said that Suntai was in stable condition and would return to Nigeria as soon as he got a clean bill of health from the German hospital.
Ex-President Buhari's daughter dies after childbirth
The former Head of State and former presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), Thursday, November 29, lost his eldest daughter, Mrs. Zulaihatu Abdullahi from childbirth complications at a Kaduna hospital.
The 40-year-old Zulaihatu is a graduate of Economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is survived by her husband, Captain Junaidu Abdullahi and three children; Halimatu Sa’adiya Junaid (daughter), Muhammadu Buhari Junaid (son) and the baby boy she was delivered of three days ago.
She was buried last night at Unguwan Rimi Cemetery in Kaduna in accordance with Islamic rites.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.

November 3rd, 2012, saw 30 beautiful & intelligent undergraduates representing their various tertiary institutions at the 6th World Miss University Nigeria Contest, held at the illustrious Golden Tulip Hotel Festac-Lagos campaigning and discussing pressing global issues that affect their various campus communities and mankind in general.
However, it was stylish and pretty Miss Tobi Abigail Phillips, 400 level Marine Sciences student representing UNILAG that won the desirable crown. Besides her impressive showings on stage, she scooped 6065 votes before camping during the online voting. Four other queens were crowned as her runner up.

Police raids Basket Mouth’s emBARsy Club, 3 others
Nigeria police Friday November 23rd raided four clubs located on University Road, Akoka, Yaba Lagos. The raid, led by the DPO from Yabo-Sabo police station, affected Basketmouth's EmBARssy lounge located at 12 University Rd, where at least 10 individuals were arrested without any reason. They were released the next day.
The police officers allegedly harassed and arrested people at will in the midnight raid which saw them roving all around the clubs and lounges in three Black-Maria and two Hilux vehicles.
However, ‘Road Runners’ club which was relaunching that same night was not raided like the others in the neighbourhood, prompting other patrons to raise eyebrows.

People are alleging that the owners of Road Runners (Diran and Sobowale) may have deliberately used the police to frustrate EmBARssy Lounge, which has since become the most patronized fun spot in the area.
Basketmouth and owners of the other fun spots affected by the raid are planning to petition the Lagos State Commissioner of Police against the action of the Sabo-Yaba police station officers, as the raid reportedly scared away many patrons which has led to loss of millions of naira in revenue.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has described the allegation of being biased as unfounded and an act of wickedness. Reacting on the police raid, the PPRO, Ngozi Braide told reporters that the affected club owners were only being sentimental.
"It is not possible for any club or lounge to control the Lagos State Police Command and the commissioner of Lagos. That is wickedness on the part of anybody insinuating this. It was a joint operation by Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Area C. It happened in the early hours of Saturday. They targeted black spots" Braide explained.

Pregnant Nollywood Actress beaten to death by lover
Pregnant upcoming Yoruba actress, Silifa Ladeji popularly called Silifonia, has bled to death after being severally physically assaulted by a lover in an ensuing misunderstanding on Wednesday.
A close friend of the late Silifa who also is an actress said Silifa had incessantly being assaulted and battered by her boyfriend who is currently at large.
Silifonia corpse has been deposited in an undisclosed hospital.
